Ano kaya ang maisisiwalat ng mga tax
declarations mula 2004 at household expenses ng napatalsik na Chief Justice
Maria Lourdes Sereno at dinedemanda na ito ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)?
Inutos ng House Justice Committee na
magsaliksik ang BIR sa tax-filings ni Sereno habang kanilang tinitimbang ang
impeachment ng nasabing Chief Justice.

Sinabi naman ni Sereno na siya’y inabisuhan ng hindi pinangalanang tao noong Hulyo o Agosto ng huling taon na “do the politically smart thing” at bumaba na sa pwesto. Ngunit ito’y kanyang tinalikuran at patuloy niyang nilabanan ang Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
“This morning my lawyers – even though the prescription
for that kind of audit has expired 14 years ago – are now talking with the
BIR,” sabi ni Sereno.
Ngayo’y nahaharap ang kanyang dalawang
empleyado sa preliminary probe ng Department of Justice.
Nasa kamay parin ng BIR kung anong
karagdagang anumalya ang masisiwalat patungkol kay Sereno. Oras lang ang
makapagtatago ng katotohanan sa likod ng nasabing Chief Justice. Kung sinunod
niya lang ang abiso na siya’y bumaba na sa pwesto’y hindi na sana ito aabot sa
ganito.
