Albay, Philippines - Mayon also known as Mayon Volcano or Mount Mayon, is an active stratovolcano in the province of Albay in Bicol Region, on the large island of Luzon in the Philippines. Renowned as the "perfect cone" because of its symmetric conical shape. 

The Most active volcano has erupting again, thousands of people evacuated on the main island in Luzon were forced to evacuate. Total of 12,000 people need to evacuate to prevent any damages if the Volcano with erupt.

Last Sunday, Authorities increased the alert level of the Mayon Volcano to Level 3 in the southern part of Luzon after observing the massive eruption and the bright lava explosions.

Philvolcs issued an alert level measuring the "increased tendency towards hazardous eruption" after three stream driven eruption and dozens of rockfalls. 

Mayon Volcano Bulletin; On an issued statement from Philvolcs (Philippine Institute of Volcanology & Seismology), Mayon is exhibiting relatively high unrest and that magma is already at the crater and the hazardous eruption is possible within weeks or even days. 

DOST - Philvolcs makes sure that they will maintain a close monitoring of Mayon Volcano and any new development will be communicated to all concerned stakeholders.

The last time the Volcano erupted was exhibited similar activity beforehand. 
Over the weekend, authorities ordered the evacuation of areas at the foot of the volcano. 


In 2014, thousands of residents were ordered to evacuate the same area after a "critical" alert was issued, while in 2013, five climbers died when they were hit by falling rocks thrown up by a particularly violent blast.

Mayon's most devastating eruption happened in 1814. About 1,200 were killed during that time.
