Two top leader of the country, President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo reunited during the graduation ceremony of Batch 2018 of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) in Taguig City last Tuesday, March 20.

Duterte and Robredo sat next to each other on the graduation rites of PMA. 

President Duterte made his speech and at the beginning of his speech Duterte apologized for being late on the said event, explaining that after a 13 hour meeting with the National Security Council Executive Committee that started at around 2 p.m. he slept late and need to have some rest before going on the Graduation of Class 2018. 

Duterte to Robredo: Ikaw po ang pinag usapan namin Ma'am. 

President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday joked to Vice President Leni Robredo that she was one of the topics in his roughly 13-hour meeting with Cabinet officials yesterday.

“Natapos ho kami Ma’am ng three, ang pinag-usapan namin ikaw,” Duterte told Robredo, who was among the high-profile guests at the Philippine Army anniversary celebration in Taguig City.

It was the second time this week that Robredo and Duterte shared the same stage.


During last Sunday’s Philippine Military Academy graduation at Baguio City, Duterte told Robredo that they are friends.


Duterte also addressed Robredo to the delight of the crowd.

“Magkaibigan man kami ni Ma’am (The Vice President and I are friends),” Duterte said, drawing laughter from his audience.

Duterte’s short reunion with Robredo can possibly have an opening point  to return to Duterte’s Cabinet if a position would be offered to her. But Robredo emphasized her right to dissent on national issues that may surface.

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque however said Robredo cannot do that because she will be the alter ego of the President. 

The Palace official also extinguished Robredo's hopes of having another Cabinet position. 

“Umasa po siya, hindi po mangyayari ‘yon. Dahil hindi naman po ata siya bibigyan ng kahit anong pwesto ng Pangulo (Let her hope, but it will not happen. Because I don’t think the President will even giver her another Cabinet seat),” Roque said.

In cased you forget, Robredo resigned from her Cabinet position last December 2016 after a text message she received from Cabinet Secretary Jun Evasco, saying to not attend Cabinet meetings anymore. 

She served as HUDCC chair for five months, the same position held by her predecessors from former Vice Presidents Jejomar Binay and Noli de Castro.
