In the midst of all the spending, shopping or making everyday financial transactions,the last thing on your mind is availing of an advantage card. That’s one extra step after you hit the cashier, and it doesn’t really benefit you that much anyway, right?

At the onset, it would seem that having a rewards card is counterproductive due to initial membership fees or the amount of purchase required. 

But some  wise shoppers know that depending on the kind of program that a company or brand offers, the bonuses that you get from stacking up ‘points’ can match up nicely to your usual financial practices.

Some of the perks offered, such as the occasional free parking space or movie ticket are quite nice to have too.

But there's a viral post in the internet about having a conversation between a cashier and the buyer regarding about an advantage card the cashier offers.

sm cashier: sir may SM advantage card kayo?

Me: wala

Sm cashier: sir kumuha na kayo.

Me: magkano ba yan?

Sm: 150 sir.

Me: so paano ba yang sm advantage card makakatulong sa buhay ko

SM: for every 200 points po sir ay may 1 peso kayong earning.

Humingi ako ng papel kay ate at nagcompute ako sa harapan nya

Me: so miss ganito ba yung computation nyan? 
200 points x 150 pesos=30,000? So kailangan ko ate gumastos ng 30,000 para maibalik ko yung puhunan kong 150 pesos??

SM cashier: ah eh ah ehh sir ganun na nga sir

Nagtatawanan sila sa likod ko

Me: hanggang kelan ang validity nya?

SM: 1 year lang po sir

Me: so sa tingin mo ate gagastos ako ng 30000 plus para lang magkapoints at para mabawi ko lang yung binayad ko na 150 in 1 year??

Sm cashier: ayyy sige sir wag na lang po.

Me: ate pasensya ka na hah, mahirap kasi ang buhay kaya ganito ako magtipid.


Kaya guys dapat pagisipan ng mabuti muna kapag gumagastos ng PERA.


So, you guys decide are we really need to have an advantage card or reward card if the points we get will take a very looong time to amount we invested on the card?
