President Rodrigo Duterte told on Wednesday, March 7 has warned local government officials who refuse to cooperate with his national government authorities in rehabilitating the resort island of Boracay. 

Boracay is small island in the Philippines, it is well known with its white sand beach type and most of the events in summer happened in the island. Boracay Island and its beaches have received awards from numerous travel publications and agencies. 

The island comprises the barangays of Manoc-Manoc, Balabag, and Yapak in the municipality of Malay, in Aklan Province.

Duterte: Boracay at pit of Human waste

But on some reasons, the President want to shut down Boracay because of the irresponsible damage occured on the Island has been very widely these years. 

President Duterte on his latest speech regarding Boracay Problems, he tol media that if the Local Government and its investors do not cooperate and begin to protest, it is their fault, no one is to blame but the irresponsible local government alone. 

"If they do not want to cooperate and they begin to protest, that's your fault. You are responsible for the damage (in Boracay) all these years. Even those local officials who are all nonchalant of the problem there, I will arrest you all," he said

Duterte: Six month you should clean now Boracay or else. 

President Duterte also said that if the local government will not follow his order, he will really shut down the Island in Six month.

"If you put up a fight, then I'll charge you for sedition, preventing government to do what is good for the Filipino people," he said.

Duterte opened up this announcement when he might need the proposal of the Department of Interior and Local Governent (DILG) to place Boracay under State of Calamity if the waste management issues are not yet resolved within his deadline of six month. 

Duterte: People in Boracay are snobbish, They do not want to cooperate. 

The President's recent statement also noticed that mostly of the residents were not cooperative even the time when Department of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR) authorized to clean up the island within six months. 

"People in Boracay are snobbish. They do not want to cooperate", Duterte said.

Duterte: Heatlh and Public issues were the Major Concerns

Duterte also enumerate the majoy problems of Boracay right now. Health, Public issues. 

"One, it is a health issue. (It is) the right of a government to intervene or interdict to promote public health. Second, public interest, because if you ignore its current state, time will come when it is so polluted, it can no longer be of use for the next generation. It is to our interest to preserve its pristine state just like before," he added.
