In the midst of the Mocha Uson versus Kris Aquino dispute, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte finally speaks out about it. He stated that he respects     Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson for her zeal in defending him all while confirming his apology towards actress Kris Aquino.

He pointed out that he talked to Asec. Uson about the matter yet her invocation of her Freedom of Speech was which was sacred to him prompted Duterte to stop asking her to apologize.

“Yes totoo yun, I said to Bong tell the other one (Mocha) for the incident because she works for me sa Malacañan. I asked Mocha to apologize to Kris, but there’s a verbal tussle there. She invoked freedom of speech,” Duterte stated.

“Who am I now to (stop her). I do not control my (workers) she has invoked a sacred right, yan pa ang sacred, that’s guanranteed under the constitution,” he added.

He also stated that there was no hard feelings when it came to Uson’s disobedience and pointed out that there should be a mutual understanding between his side and the oppositions’ side.

“Kasi ako mismo, sinasabi ko na it’s your right to criticize me. As a matter of fact, any policeman who disagrees with me, because of this drug problem… You can criticize me even the garbage collector,” Duterte pointed out.

With this the Manila Times Columnist Jojo Robles was prompted to state,

“Stand down. The boss has spoken. And unlike you, he’s not throwing her under the bus.”

Referring to Special Assistant to the President Christopher Bong Go whom apparently sided with Kris Aquino when her dispute with Mocha Uson arouse.

The one positive thing that we can find in this word-war between the two entertainment and political entities, it was that the Freedom of Speech is still ever-kept sacred and respected, contrary to what Duterte’s critics state and protest about.
