For former Solicitor General Atty. Florin Hilbay, staying silent on the issue of China’s illegal activities is not because the Philippines does not want a war to happen.
He said it is because the “basis of that protest is our victory in Phils vs. China”, referring to the Hague ruling.
He said it is because the “basis of that protest is our victory in Phils vs. China”, referring to the Hague ruling.
In Hilbay’s eyes,
it would simply mean offense to the rising superpower China for the Philippines
to assert its win over the West Philippine Sea.
“Para tayong
champion na ayaw kunin yung trophy,” he said.
The fear of
rousing the rage of an economic giant like China has the government whimpering
like a kicked dog, thus, choosing to be blind instead to the illegal activities
done by China.
Why is the Duterte Admin not protesting any of the illegal activities of China in the West Phil Sea?— florin hilbay (@fthilbay) May 31, 2018
Not bec a formal protest--a piece of paper--leads to war. It's bec the basis of that protest is our victory in Phils v. China.
Para tayong champion na ayaw kunin yung trophy.
Despite the victory in the Hague ruling, Hilbay lamented that “the PH government chose to act like winners who refuse to take their trophy out of fear. In Duterte language: “Duwag!”

folly to strike against China, deeming it more advantageous to fortify
international ties with them so as to aid the Philippine government in
improving its economy and public service.
